Packhouse Manager

Job Summary

To plan, organize and implement the Packhouse Operations to ensure the delivery of the departmental targets and business strategy for Allensmore Nurseries.

Key Responsibilities

• To ensure the delivery of customer expectations in terms of quality, compliance to specifications, order accuracy and load-times.
• To deliver efficient Packhouse systems; monitoring productivity and standards, addressing failures in a timely manner and identifying and implementing system improvements.
• To ensure that the Packhouse has sufficient competent staff at all times through participation in the recruiting and selecting of applicants, effective labour planning and ensuring the effective introduction and training of new colleagues.
• Ensure compliance with policies and procedures designed to meet BOPP Packhouse accreditation, completing and filing accurate documentation as required.
• Maintain a healthy, safe and secure working environment, ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements and maintaining accurate documentation. Resolving issues where possible and reporting where necessary in a timely manner.
• To plan, monitor, and appraise Packhouse colleagues job performance; providing training, feedback, coaching.
• To implement, and ensure compliance with, all Allensmore Nurseries policies relating to staff, Health and Safety and BOPP accreditation
The Person

• Must be able to communicate effectively with Packhouse colleagues and other departments to achieve performance targets, quality standards and an efficient operation.
• Must have experience of leading and motivating teams preferably at management or supervisory level.
• Must be well organised with excellent attention to detail and the ability to prioritise work.
• Must have a flexible approach to work and be able to demonstrate problem solving skills.
• Ideally be proficient in the use of IT systems including Microsoft Excel.
• Ideally have an understanding of process improvement and LEAN systems.
• Ideally have a working knowledge of Quality systems.
The position involves early morning, late night and weekend working on a rota basis, with the possibility of operating a shift pattern during the busiest periods.
